I provide strategic consulting services for organizations that promote health, community engagement, and economic empowerment through food.
We might be the perfect fit for each other if:
You’d like to get clear on your organization’s strategy for achieving your mission and how you will make it happen
You want to improve existing or identify new income streams to better support your organization’s social mission, but you are not sure where to start or if people will pay for what you have to offer
You have ideas for new programs, training, or resources that could benefit your clients or community, but you don’t have the internal resources to flesh out your ideas and create a framework for putting the best ones into action
You wish you had better ways to measure and share your organization’s impact on your clients, your community, or on the environment in which you operate
You have knowledge to share with your peers – or the world, but need help packaging it in an easy-to-understand and useful way
About me:
I’m Stormy Sweitzer. I’m a food-lover with a strong sense of social responsibility and a keen eye for business strategy and start-up. The day I graduated college over 15 years ago, I started working with organizations that promote food access and self-reliance – from farmers’ market to food bank, Peace Corps to community garden.
After a not-so-subtle subtle career shift, I find myself once again drawn to and approached by food-centric organizations that exist to create economic opportunity, cultivate community, and inspire health and well being through eating. This time, though, I bring additional experiences and education to bear. What are my experiences and education?
- A Bachelor’s degree in Economic Development, a Master’s in Public Health, and a Master’s in Business Administration
- 4 years living and traveling extensively in South America, the former Soviet Union, Europe, and Africa
- 10 years working in the field of public health as a start-up go-to person, professional educator, and internal consultant
- 15 years consulting with nonprofit and for-profit entities on market research, strategy, and business development
- Having started 4 businesses of my own, including a consulting practice that I currently operate that helps social entrepreneurs and nonprofit organizations develop businesses that support social impact missions
- And, of course, writing the Maoomba blog, through which I have been able to explore my passions for food, gardening, travel, and fitness, as well as the economic, health, and environmental impacts of our food choices
I am honored and feel fortunate to be able to bring my unique view on the world to assist organizations – possibly yours – in expanding their reach, improving their impact, and sharing their success.
What I can help your organization with:

identify new opportunities for generating income
explore markets for your services or products
